I don’t know if the word “storming” is appropriate for this type of workshop. The Virtual DDD team tried a remote EventStorming and it didn’t have the same impact as a big picture workshop.

However, I’m actually a big fan of single-threaded EventStorming in the physical space (where only one person can put events on the wall). And I think this can be replicated with an online experience.

I’m currently thinking about recipes for online version of EventStorming and I’ll write up my experiences once I’ve tried them out.

Yes, I do think groups larger than 6 can work if the session is well organised, and the participants make an effort to behave and follow the roles. I think regular retrospectives and breaks will be necessary, and I’m not sure if it’s possible to spend a whole day in the online format. Maybe 2–3 hours per day would be the limit.
