A CDM is usually a data model that is used by the whole system. E.g. everywhere you have the concept of a “User” its structure must be identical.

In this example, the scope of the data model in the Gateway Interchange is only between the GI and each domain. From there, each domain is free to transform end expose the data however they wish.
