I agree with your intuition on the latter. Facilitating means helping another team to achieve their goals, where I think that pioneers own a problem and are building the solution. They might not have any interaction with others, or they could be collaborating.

I’m not sure that the 1:1 mapping works beyond a superficial level. I think I would need to study more examples before drawing such generalisations. But I like your thinking. It’s a good hypothesis to explore and see where it takes you.
